Pakistan former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes that speedsters Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir would join Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2019.
“I would still say that Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir are coming in the World Cup squad. These are the two missing links in the Pakistan team and their arrival would just change the game for us,” said Akhtar while talking to local media. “There has been 10 years of investment on Wahab and Amir, now it is the time to us them,” he added.
Amir was excluded from 15-man squad for the World Cup, however, the fast bowler is in England serving as cover for the World Cup squad and, if required, can be drafted into the side until May 23 without ICC's permission.
However, Riaz was not even selected into the 23 probables by the PCB but his impressive performance at the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the recently concluded 50-overs Pakistan Cup caught Akhtar's attention.
“If you see Wahab’s performance for the past one and a half year, he has improved a lot and is right up there as a good fast bowler. He can’t get better then his current form so we should use him,” said Akhtar.
