KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that after heatwave alert, the chief minister Sindh had directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners of the province to take precautionary measure and set up heatwave centers in health care facilities and cold water facility at district and tehsil level for the immediate medical assistance to affected person while the provincial rehabilitation and health departments has also been issued directives to prepare plan to cope with the challenge.
Talking to media persons at Sindh Assembly media corner, the advisor said that commissioner Karachi had been supervising the relief measures in Karachi.
He said that 112 heatwave centers in different health care facilities and 185 cold water points had been set up in different locations of the metropolis while 24 ambulances will remain stand by.
He further informed that 18 mobile teams had also been formed for providing immediate medical aid to heat wave affectees while 24 ambulances will remain in standby for emergency situation at different locations. Giving the district wise break up, Wahab told that in district central, 24 medical support centers, 65 chill water facilities had been set up. In district Korangi, 15 heatwave centers, 24 water facilities while 6 ambulances will remain in standby for shifting of heatwave affected persons. In district Malir, 15 centers, 15 water points, 28 centers and 28 water points in district west while 34 heat wave centers and 21 chill water points have been setup in district south and in district east 9 centers and 19 water points have been setup.
The provincial advisor strongly condemned the manhandling of media persons and cameramen by the activists of a political party in public gathering last night and asked PTI to train its workers as saying that media is fourth pillar of state; such kind of attitude with media persons is not a positive sign.
Commenting on the public meeting of MQM-P, he congratulated brave citizens of Karachi for rejecting the politics of hate, discrimination and division. He said that in past, the youth of Karachi were encouraged to take arms on the basis of linguistic and discrimination instead of guiding them for acquiring education for respective living.
He was of the view that the atmosphere of fear and terror had been brought to an end in the city after immense hard work and added that lights of city had been restored. Once again, he said, MQM-P tried to drag youth towards politics of linguistic discrimination on this weekend but citizen of Karachi has rejected it.
“The citizen of Karachi wanted to follow politics of main streaming and they wanted to resolve their issues,” he said adding that how long will you continue to drag citizens of Karachi towards hate for your own motives?
He was of the opinion that the time had come now to end the politics of discrimination. “It is time to raise question on the performance of Mayors of Karachi and Mayor and ministers of MQM-P sitting in the federal government, what they had done for their voters.
He said that the Sindh government was releasing Rs7 billion to KMC annually for the relief of people, but no development had been carried out in Karachi by the Mayor and added that Mayor Karachi only complains about the powers.
He said that MQM-P had power of China cutting on green belts, as they had powers to demolish the markets but it was strange that they don’t have powers for providing relief to people of Karachi.
He said that voters of Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas had rejected the politics of MQM-P. He said that MQM-P calls Sindh their motherland in Sindh Assembly as well as in public gatherings in other parts of province.
