PRAGUE: Shares of Czech banks were down on Monday after the prime minister unveiled a plan to request the banks pay part of their dividends to a state fund.

Moneta Money Bank was down 1.3 percent and Komercni Banka dropped 1.7 percent at 0708 GMT.

Czech banks should pay up to 20 percent of their dividends into a new state development fund, Prime Minister Andrej Babis said on Sunday, as his government sought new revenue streams against a backdrop of slowing growth.
