German network agency awards 270 MW of onshore wind power licences

FRANKFURT: Germany's network agency Bundesnetzagentur on Monday said it awarded licences to build 295 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind turbines in an auction for a possible maximum of 650 MW.

The subscription rate of 55 percent represented a "worrying dimension," it said.

Developers are shying away from bidding due to a lack of what they see as a reliable political framework, in the light of long planning and permissioning procedures and citizens' opposition to infrastructure on their doorstep.

The average price was 0.613 euros per kilowatt hour (kWh), which the Bundesnetzagentur said was slightly above the previous round. The next tender will be held on Aug. 1.
