KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday expressed annoyance at Sindh government for not submitting answer in a petition against the government departments for hiring services of private lawyers.
A SHC bench heard the petition filed by complainant Faaiq Jagirani and gave three weeks of ultimatum to Sindh government for submitting its answer to the petition.
The petitioner stated that as the government has recruited its own counsels and prosecutors, hiring services of private layers by government institutions is illegal.
He said according to the law neither government’s counsel could represent a private case nor a private counsel could represent the government case. He said there are government counsels and advocate general for representing government-related cases.
“Those who are hiring services of private counsels are causing lose to national exchequer,” he stated.
The court adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
