SARGODHA: Commissioner Sargodha Zafar Iqbal Sheikh has said that 36% of the wheat purchase target has been achieved so far in Sargodha division.
According to a handout issued here, he hoped that 100% target would be achieved soon. He said that 2,017,720 gunny bags had been distributed among 19,058 farmers whereas 112,791-metric-ton wheat had been purchased in Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab and Sargodha districts so far.
He said that for facilitating farmers, 13 wheat purchase centres were set up in Sargodha district where 835,153 gunny bags were distributed among 8,094 farmers and 42% wheat target achieved.
In Khushab district, 222,376 bags were distributed among 2,937 farmers and for purchasing 8,184-metric-ton wheat, and 36% target had been achieved at three wheat purchase centres. Also 326,610 bags were distributed among 3,032 farmers in Mianwali district and 185,000-metric-ton wheat was purchased at six centres.
Similarly, a total of 14 wheat purchase centres were set up in Bhakkar district and 374,197-metric-ton wheat (33%) had been purchased by distributing 634,184 gunny bags among 5,518 farmers.
