KARACHI: Governor, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Dr. Reza Baqar on Monday rejected the impression about International Monetary Fund (IMF) role in his appointment on this post and that it was his burning desire to serve the motherland, Pakistan, after getting rich experience with the IMF in managing the economic affairs at macro level.
To a query at his first interaction with media here, he explained that he was very much citizen of Pakistan holding CNIC and passport of Pakistan before his appointment as SBP Governor.
"I had Pakistani ID card and other citizenship documents. I also regularly visited Pakistan. I also make it clear that I have no citizenship of any other country," he reaffirmed and suggested other highly qualified and professional Pakistanis working abroad to come to their country and contribute in its prosperity and development.
