Staying loyal to her former in-laws, actor Hrithik Roshan's ex-wife Sussanne Khan has asked people to respect the family's ‘tough period’ amid the controversy over Sunaina Roshan's assault accusations against her father and brother.

In her Instagram post, Sussanne has asked people to respect a family's ‘tough period’. “As a part of my experience with all concerned and in my life span of being a part of this close knit family, I know Sunaina, to be an extremely loving warm, caring person, who is in an unfortunate situation. Sunaina's father is undergoing a major health crisis. Her mother is herself vulnerable to say the least. Please respect a family's tough periods, each family goes through such times. I needed to say this as someone who has been a part of this family for long,” she wrote.

The Roshan family has been embroiled in controversy after Hrithik's sister Sunaina leveled some major allegations against her family, accusing them of mentally and physically assaulting her for loving a Muslim guy. Sunaina spilled the beans in an recent interview, after actor Kangana Ranaut's sister broke the news of Sunaina asking help from Kangana, who already has a bad history with the Roshan family.

While talking to Pinkvilla, Sunaina said, “Because I was in love with a Muslim guy, my father slapped me and told me that the guy I loved was a terrorist, which Ruhail isn’t. He is a journalist called Ruhail Amin. I didn’t want to talk about this but I want them to accept Ruhail right now because they are making my life hell and I cannot tolerate it… They don’t want me to meet him. I don’t know about marriage but right now I want to be with Ruhail. Just because he is Muslim, they cannot accept him”.

“Hrithik has no take as he is under my father’s guidance right now. Nobody is okay with my relationship, neither Hrithik nor my father,” she added.
