Pakistani actor/singer Ali Zafar provided on Monday 'strong evidence' against Meesha Shafi in the ongoing case against him after his fellow singer accused him last year of sexual harassment.
Ali said that Meesha's allegations had caused him emotional and financial damage. He added that he was surprised when he found out that Meesha had accused him of harassment. "I asked that I be told when and where I harassed Meesha Shafi," he said.
According to local media reports, giving all the details about Meesha’s text messages, Ali told the court that Meesha blackmailed him to stay away from the Pepsi contract or she would level allegation of sexual harassment against him.
Ali claimed that before accusing him publicly, Meesha had sent him a message through her manager Rizwan Raees, telling him to stay away from Pepsi Battle of the Bands. Meesha is one of the judges in the television contest.
He claimed that Rizwan had told him that Meesha will not be alone in her accusing [the singer] of harassment and has many supporters. “Meesha Shafi said that she will start a movement with her allegations,” Ali claimed.
The singer also mentioned the rehearsal session during which, according to Meesha, Ali had harassed her, he and Meesha were standing at a distance of about two to three feet and there were multiple people present on the occasion.
He presented record of messages, pictures, social media posts and tweets of Meesha. He said nine witnesses had testified before the court that he had not harassed the singer at a jamming session.
