Veteran Pakistani TV actor Zaheen Tahira passed away early Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness, family sources confirmed. She was 79.
The actor had been dealing with health issues for a while. She was rushed to Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi after another cardiac arrest where she breathed her last at 4am on Tuesday.
Last month, the legendary television actress was put on the ventilator after enduring a heart attack. She had been admitted in the hospital since last two weeks. She suffered another heart attack earlier today.
Tahira, who entered the entertainment industry in the mid-60s, is one of the most beloved actresses of Pakistan. She has worked for decades in various lead roles in over 700 dramas. The actress was honoured with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2013.
