In upcoming weeks, Facebook has announced that it will be launching entirely new consumer-focused apps and new experiences for the community to do something outside of Facebook’s existing platforms.
Social media site Facebook announced a New Product Experimentation (NPE) Team, which will develop new apps, aiming to provide people ‘entirely new experiences for building community’ and to spent time on apps other than Facebook’s sites such as Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.

The firm claims that this initiative is a way to give new experiences and try various ideas by building small, focused apps and gauge user’s interest. The NPE Team will work rapidly and will immediately shut down the apps that fail to thrive and are not useful for the people. “We expect many failures,” Facebook clearly wrote in its blog post.
All apps will be released under the name ‘NPE Team, from Facebook’, and will be available in the App Store, Google Play Store and on the web. They will also abide by its terms of service and data policy and that the NPE Team will clearly inform people how their data is being used, explained Engadget.
