Actor Tom Cruise surprised fans on Thursday with the official trailer of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. It may be 34 years since the original film dropped, but Cruise's character Pete Maveric Mitchell is still very much alive in the hearts of fans.
Making a surprise entry at San Diego Comic-Con festival, Cruise released first look of his iconic film that made him an official Hollywood star. The trailer shows him back as Maverick, who will be dealing with issues of drone technology and fifth-generation fighters in the sequel.
He referred to the film as “a love letter to aviation”. The 2-minutes-12-seconds long trailer shows Cruise wearing Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell’s famous leather jacket, racing on a motorcycle and flying a fighter jet through a narrow snow-filled canyon.
This trailer doesn’t show off much of the story, but audiences will be going to theaters to see Cruise in action again.
While interacting with Comic-Con audience, Cruise said fans have been waiting for its sequel so it was his responsibility to deliver something they want. “I was always asked ‘When are you going to do another one?’ Well, you’ve been very patient with me. I felt like it was my responsibility to really deliver for you,” Cruise said.
The movie will hit theatres in June 2020.
