HYDERABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday asked the Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) to ensure restoration of power supply at all feeders of Hyderabad.
An MQM delegation led by Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Salahuddin met HESCO CEO here at his office to express their concern over power breakdown soon after start of rainfall late Sunday night.
Salahuddin asked the HESCO chief to direct sub-divisional officers to coordinate with the elected representatives so that issue of power breakdown in majority areas of Hyderabad could be resolved through joint efforts.
He also underlined the need of resolving the issue of excessive billing and other issues related to the HESCO on merit and in a transparent manner.
MNA Sabir Kamkhani informed the HESCO chief that 46 power transformers of Hyderabad City and 40 power transformers of Latifabad remained out of order due to faults, adding to the miseries of residents.
The HESCO chief assured the delegation that the issue of repair of faulty power transformers would be resolved soon. He said power supply had been restored in 90 percent feeders of urban localities of HESCO region and efforts were underway to restore the same in rest of the affected areas.
He asked the Chief Operating Officer HESCO Muhammad Saleem to ensure the repair of faulty power transformers and added that all sub-divisional officers should submit report about the details of faulty transformers so that the same could be replace at the earliest.
Among others, members of Sindh Assembly Nasir Qureshi and Rashid Khilji were also part of the delegation.
