HYDERABAD: The Minister Local Govt Sindh Saeed Ghani Wednesday said efforts were being made for dewatering of all low lying areas and relief would soon be provided to the citizens.
The provincial Minister was chairing a meeting at Hyderabad Development Authority's office to review post rain situation and relief and rescue measures taken by the administration.
Saeed Ghani told the meeting that 30 high power as well as small dewatering pumps had been brought from Karachi and other cities to expedite dewatering process in Qasimabad and other rain affected areas of the city.
The meeting reviewed about the relief measures and the hurdles coming in the way of dewatering process.
The meeting was informed that power outage was a main hurdle in dewatering process, if uninterrupted electricity supply was provided, dewatering process would be completed within 24 hours.
The officers told the meeting that all resources had been utilized and heavy as well as small dewatering pumps were being used to drain out accumulated the water from city areas.
The meeting was attended among others by the Member National Assembly Tariq Jamote, MPA Jabbar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Aijaz Ali Shah, the Director General HDA Ghulam Mohammad, MD WASA Mohammad Saleem, Assistant Commissioner Qasimabad Faraz Ahmed Siddiqi.
Earlier, the local government minister arrived in the city and visited rain affected areas and reviewed functioning of pumping station in Gulistan Sajjad area.
The minister said power outages had made situation miserable due to which functioning of dewatering pumps remained affected.
He assured that situation would become normal within 24 hours.
