Pakistan top order batsman Babar Azam has became an overnight sensation at the ongoing Vitality Blast 2019, earning praise from fellow Somerset county mate and captain Lewis Gregory. The skipper, however, admitted that the side has not been able to capitalize on Azam, despite the batsman's consistent performance for the side. “Babar Azam has been awesome, doing exactly what we signed him for. We have struggled because guys have not really got going around him. It’s not through lack of effort and hopefully we can put that right against Surrey,” said Gregory, quoted The Cricketer. Azam, ranked the number one T20I batsman in world cricket, was Somerset’s top pick. The Pakistani bloke has fared pretty well in the tournament and has already managed to become one of the tournament’s leading run scorers, with scores of 83 and 95 in his last two matches. The 24-year-old batsman, considered the mainstay of Pakistan’s batting line and one of the best batsman in limited overs cricket, has been one of the star attractions of the tournament, featuring the likes of South African batting machine AB de Villiers and Afghanistan’s spin wizard Rashid Khan.
