Pakistan cricket stars have voiced their concern over the depleting law and order situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir, urging the Indian authorities to stop violence in the disputed region.

Pakistan's former captain and star all-rounder Shahid Afridi called on United Nations to step up and look into the 'unprovoked aggression and crimes being committed in Kashmir against humanity'.

Meanwhile, Pakistan women team captain Sana Mir also hoped and prayed for peace in the region. “May peace prevails, may the bloodshed stops. May the innocent live without fear, may the Kashmiris experience freedom. May the greed for power and control diminish and humanity survives,” she tweeted.

Other cricket stars, Javed Miandad and Kamran Akmal, have also spoken up about Kashmir as the tension escalates in the region.

The Indian government on Monday revoked the special status of occupied Kashmir, moving to grasp its only Muslim-majority region more tightly.
