Pakistan’s legendary hockey goalkeeper and Olympic champion Zakir Hussain passed away on Monday at age of 89. Hussain was part of the gold medal winning Pakistan side at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. He also won a silver medal at 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. The goalkeeper also grabbed gold for Pakistan in 1958 Tokyo Asian Games and in 1962 Jakarta Asian Games. Pakistan Hockey Federation President Brigadier (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Secretary General Asif Bajwa, Pakistan Olympians Forum Chairman and Chief Selector Olympian Manzoor Junior expressed their condolences to the family of the Pakistani hockey player. Hussain has left two sons and three daughters in survivors. His funeral will be held today, August 19 at Gulshan-e-Anwar, Jinnah Colony Wah Cantt.
