The final trailer of DC's ‘Joker’ starring Joaquin Phoenix is out and it showcases the origin of joker and how his struggles as a clown-cum-stand-up comedian turn him into a crazed and creepy villain.
Phoenix plays Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian whose hate and failures drive him insane. The way people have misunderstood and misinterpreted the meaning and the mere existence of such a person who loves to make people laugh is the worst face of humans and the feelings of 'Joker' are aptly emoted by Phoenix.
The trailer is heavy in terms of visuals and it promises a far more serious take on the Joker’s traditional comics supervillain than the already fairly grounded approach seen in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’.
The trailer also gives us a look at Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas (Brett Cullen). In most Batman stories, the death of Thomas and his wife Martha is the defining incident that leads Bruce to take up the cowl and fight crime as a masked vigilante. Thomas is very much alive here, which means there won’t be a showdown between Joker and Batman.
The movie will hit theatres on October 4.
