Pakistan top order batsman Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of further participation in the ongoing pre-season conditioning camp after being advised one-week rest for a right knee injury.

The development comes after Fakhar’s MRI scans were examined by the PCB Medical Advisory Committee, which has advised the left-handed opener to continue his rehabilitation programme so that the panel can review his recovery after 10 days before a decision to his safe return to competitive cricket can be made.

Zaman was participating in the fitness camp being conducted at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore under the supervision of former captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

Some twenty players are participating at the PCBs 17-day conditioning camp that began on 22 August and run until 7 September. The players are undergoing extensive fielding drills and net sessions, along with fitness and other cricketing activities.

The drills are part of PCB’s plan to prepare the players for the upcoming domestic and international cricket season. The first test of the national cricket team is likely to be the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20I series against Sri Lanka. The much anticipated home series will be played in Karachi and Lahore from September 27.
