Robert Pattinson opened up for the first time about his casting as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ upcoming ‘The Batman’. The actor said he was furious about the early revelation, as he feels that people found out about it way too soon.
Few days ago, Pattinson created a lot of buzz when he was announced as new batman by Warner Bros. He said the stories were premature, he hadn’t even auditioned till then and he was horrified that all the chatter would spook Warner Bros. executives into not hiring him.
“When that thing leaked, I was f—ing furious,” Pattinson told Variety. “Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing. It was terrifying. I was like, ‘Oh f---! Does that screw me because they are so intent on secrecy?”
He said that he’d actually had thoughts about becoming Batman for quite some time and early rumours made him nervous about losing one of the biggest projects.
The initial rumors that he had been cast in Bat-film came while Pattinson was on the way to the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of ‘Lighthouse’, sending the actor into a spin of anger and confusion.
“I’d had Batman in my mind for a while. It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt [Reeves]. He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him,” he said.
Now that Pattinson has officially been named as the new Batman, the film is set to go on floor this winter ahead of its 2021 release date.
