In order to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims who will visit Kartarpur, Pakistan has decided to add a religious tourism category to the online visa system.

During a meeting, the Ministry of Interior decided that people will be able to apply under two categories of visa applications, local media reported. One would be for Sikh pilgrims of Indian origin living elsewhere in the world. The second will be for Sikh pilgrims based in India.

All religious tourism visa requests for Kartarpur will be processed within seven to 10 working days.

On Wednesday, a third round of talks between Pakistan and India on a draft agreement on the corridor was held. After the meeting, Pakistan announced that it has agreed to allow 5,000 Sikh pilgrims from India to visit on a daily basis the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Narowal through the corridor. The Kartarpur Corridor is is scheduled to be opened this year in November.
