After Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar for sexual harrasment, few other women also took her side and level charges aga
Singer turned actor Ali Zafar had been accused of harassment by several women after singer Meesha Shafi leveled harassment charges against him. However, recently one of the accusers withdraws her statement against Zafar and has apologised to him.
A woman called Sofi on her Twitter handle had earlier claimed in her tweet that Zafar misbehaved with a girl they had sent to the airport to liaison with him for a fundraiser back in the States. He kept on touching her back throughout the day and moved too close to her.
However, in a recent Twitter post, Sofi has apologised to the Pakistani singer, saying she made a hasty decision to share the false information on social media. She said she made the allegations against the singer based on false information provided to her.
Earlier on interrogation, Sofi deleted her tweet and also her social media account. But, on Monday Sofi reactivated her Twitter account to post an apology for Zafar. She also posted a screenshot of the tweet which she had deleted last year.
Last year, I tweeted 👇🏻when a young lady confided her harassment experience with Ali Zafar; I deleted it in a day when certain information was brought to my knowledge which contradicted her description of the incident to me. pic.twitter.com/6nwBvunk2d

I am a victim of harassment & a MeToo supporter & inclined to blv a woman’s acvount but sometimes our faith in people is misplaced. I regret the pain my naïveté & lack of impartial judgement has caused Mr Zafar & I hope this can make amends!

@AliZafarsays I am sorry that a lie I was told & believed hastily( bcos liar ws very young) though deleted is still being used to bash you & cause you pain. I shud have clarified much sooner but I was afraid of the trolls & online stalking & abuse. I hope this can atone for it.

And for all the #MeToo supporters, we still need to support #MeToo & harassment victims but please don’t commit the mistake I made & do some reasearch of the account told to you. Sometimes there r agendas at play which we only realise much much later!

She further added that she is also a victim of harassment and she regrets all the inconvenienced caused to Zafar due to her social media post. She also encouraged everyone to first testify before accusing someone of wrongdoing.
Zafar too took the notice of the recent event and accepts Sofi apology. “Dear Sofi. It requires courage to accept your mistake and bravery to apologise publically. You are courageous and brave and that is how you should always be remembered. I wish you nothing but the best of health and happiness in life. God bless,” he wrote on Twitter.

Respect her and her privacy. She is not a fake account and has explained why she used this account. She is in fact a real victim of harassment and was misguided. It is all verified. When someone apologises. Listen and give them the respect they deserve. https://t.co/t9As5Jykfc
