Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Afghan Ambassador expressed great annoyance over the removal of Afghan flag from Firdous market in Peshawar city which he claimed was the sole property of Afghan government.

He said that he was really perturbed over the Peshawar police action removing the Afghan national flag from the Firdous market. He said that the Pakistan government should address the problem according to the international laid down rules and regulations.

To a question Shukrullah Mashal expressed the optimism that the incident would not damage the relation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He clarified that the decision over the property ownership of the Firdous market has been reached between the two governments.

He said that we have been insulted by the Pak government for removing the flag in overnight operation last night.

We are taking up this issue at every forum he said adding the government should understand the sensitivity of the matter. It is a matter of concern to bulldoze the Afghan market in a mid-night operation by the Peshawar Administration.

He retreated that Afghan market near Railway crossing is the property of Afghan government which it owned since before partition. We have respect for all the institutions but warned to resist any such attempt to annex Afghan property in future.
