The Karachi Port handled 184,488 tonnes of cargo comprising 137,166 tonnes of import cargo and 47,322 tonnes of export cargo including 6,295 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 137,166 tonnes comprised of 51,615 tonnes of containerised cargo;7,514 tonnes of general cargo; 20,549 tonnes of bulk cargo and 57,488 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 47,322 tonnes comprised of 28,033 tonnes of containerised cargo and 19,289 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 6,295 containers comprising of 3,544 containers import and 2,751 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,194 of 20's and 1,103 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 72 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 802 of 20's and 481 of 40's loaded containers while 213 of 20's and 387 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely APL Mexico City, YM Excellence, Botany Bay, Navios Unison, MT Quetta and Josco Hangzhou carrying containers, oil tanker and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels carrying three containers, one oil tanker, one fertilizer carrier and one general caro respectively currently at the berths.
The total export cargo of 26,867 tonnes includes 5,257 tonnes of cement, 2,610 tonnes of crude oil and 19,000 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,600 containers comprising of 2,600 containers import and 1,000 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely Ranger carrying soyabean sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Tiger Winter, Kyoto Express, Ocean Unicorn and Meliti-3 carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as five vessels viz. HTK Discovery, Tegea, Sakizaya Hero, Fotini Lady and Torm Estrid carrying steel coil, canola, cement, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were four ships viz. APL Mexico City, Sakizaya Hero, Fotini Lady and NCC Reem carrying containers, canola, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely APL Mexico City, Nordmed and NCC Reem carrying containers and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely Safmarine Ngami and Cape Male carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
