15 Oct, 2019

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani appeared again before the investigators of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday regarding ongoing probe against him and his son for allegedly accumulating assets beyond known sources of income and submitted reply of the questionnaire.

The JUI-F leader appeared before the anti-corruption watchdog on Oct 7 at Bureau's Rawalpindi office and was handed over a questionnaire consisting 15 questions. The Bureau asked him to submit the answers within a week. The NAB sources said the former federal minister for housing and works was questioned by the NAB team for some time but he failed to give satisfactory answers.

Both Akram Khan Durrani and his son MNA Zahid are facing the same charges of keeping 'the assets beyond known sources of income' and allegedly committing 'corruption in two housing projects announced by the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation.' The NAB has also summoned Durrani's son today (Tuesday).

The NAB's executive boarding meeting (EBM) on April 20, 2018 okayed to launch an inquiry against Akram Khan Durrani, Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) Foundation MD/CEO Jamil Ahmad Khan, company's secretary Zafaryab Khan, and others on charges of misuse of authority. The accused are allegedly involved in illegal allotment of PHA Foundation land on Kuri Road, as well as allotment of land allocated for mosques in Sectors I-12 and I-16 to their blue-eyed persons.
