The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the Test and T20 squad for Australia later this week. As per reports, the name of former captain Salman Butt is also being considered for the upcoming tour Down Under. Meanwhile, the coaches have given positive report on opening batsman Abid Ali, Sami Aslam, veteran batsman Fawad Alam, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan and Adnan Akmal. The national team chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq will finalize the formation of the Test and the T20 International (T20I) squad with a meeting with coaches at a later visit. Pakistan will play three Twenty20 matches and two Tests in Australia in November. The Pakistani cricket team is currently participating at the ongoing National T20 Cup, which is being held at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Some six regional teams are participating in the tournament with some of the biggest national cricket stars including Babar Azam, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Rizwan and Imad Wasim among others to participate in the 18 matches tournament. Earlier, Misbah said that the National T20 Cup is an opportunity for all players, especially the new talent, to prove themselves eligible for the national team and was hopeful that he would see good players emerge from the tournament.
