TOKYO: The yen rose broadly on Monday, hitting a 7-week high against the US dollar at 80.44, as investors piled back into safer assets on resurfacing worries over the euro zone debt crisis.

The yen rose 0.5 percent on the day, with stop-loss orders triggered around support at 80.50 yen.
