Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Thursday filed a petition in Peshawar High Court (PHC) against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for creating hurdles in the Azadi March.
The petition was filed by JUI-F Law Forum leader Abdullah Anwar. The petition stated that every Pakistani had the right freedom of expression under the 1973 constitution. The petition further stated that the country's constitution gave citizens the right to hold peaceful procession and peaceful rally, public gathering and protest.
The provincial government had delivered containers to block important highways, which was illegal, the petition said. A petition has also been filed against a ban to televise JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
