Days after India cut down its defence exports to Turkey, the first Pakistan-Turkey defence equipment exhibition '5th Defence Port Turkey’ is being held in Islamabad.
The three-day exhibition of Turkish defence industry is being hosted for the first time by Pakistan. The equipment includes ammunition, artillery, tanks, heavy duty trucks and other equipment.
The '5th Defence Port Turkey’ exhibition was inaugurated on October 24 in Islamabad at Pakistan-China Friendship Centre by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the exhibition shows historical, cultural and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey. The exhibition has been opened for the public today.
Vice-President of Turkish Defence Industry Mustafa ?eker said relations between both the countries would continue to flourish with each passing day.
Due to Turkey's growing military cooperation with Pakistan, India cut down its defense exports to Turkey, including explosives and detonators, Economic Times reported. This decision came following Turkey supporting Pakistan at the Financial Action Task Force in Paris, in which Pakistan escaped being blacklisted.
Turkey has also been supporting Pakistan's stance on the Kashmir issue and the human rights crisis there following the decision of the Indian government to revoke Article 370 from its constitution. The article granted special status to Indian-occupied Kashmir.
