The Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr Azra Pechuho has said that provision of basic health facilities is the top priority of Sindh Government and for this purpose we are allocating more to health sector.
This she said while inaugurating six birthing stations of Mother and Child Health Care (MCHC) in government dispensaries in Jessey Jo Par, Jetrar, Bahrari, Kathey Je Veri, Mohran Vero and Kheme Jo Par established with the support of UNICEF.
Dr Azra Pechuho further said that Sindh Government has planned 55 government dispensaries in Tharparkar district to provide facilities of mother and child health care at the union council level. Starting in 29 government dispensaries of Tharparkar district in first phase 6 birthing stations were inaugurated on Saturday.
She said that by this people who live in far-flung areas of the district Tharparkar will not only get facilities of basic health but will also get mother and child health facilities at their doorsteps.
Talking with the media after visiting the Jetrar GD, while replying to a question regarding the non-procurement of medicines for the hospitals, Dr Azra Pechuho said that the central committee is the authority for issuance of the tendering process for procurement of medicines but its meeting hasn't held lately so we are trying to conduct the meeting of the central committee by the end of November to resolve this issue.
Replying to another question she said that we are trying to provide better health facilities through public private partnership.
She said that health department is trying to achieve the targets of Millennium Development Goals and all efforts are being made to improve the health sector.
PPP MPA Qasim Siraj Soomro, district council chairman Dr Ghulam Haider Samejo, ex MPA and PPP representative Dost Ali Rahimon, special secretary Health Dr Hafeezullah Abbasi, secretary Population Welfare Department Zahid Ali Abbasi, Director General Health Dr Masud Solangi and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
