Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said the interim relief provided from Islamabad High Court to PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif does not mean ending of sentence.
Addressing a news conference, she said the sentence has been suspended by court on medical grounds and it is linked with all the health indicators of a patient. She said the court took into consideration all the factors while awarding the interim relief.
She said it is the court's prerogative to provide this bail. She said awarding and suspending of sentence to any criminal lies with the courts, and government has nothing to do with it.
In a tweet earlier today, she urged JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman to resume talks with the government for ending misunderstandings. "Negotiations are meant to remove misunderstandings and are the only way forward for achieving consensus, while adding Conservations can resolve outstanding issues," Awan said.
