  • HBO has reportedly replaced the prequel starring Naomi Watts with another titled 'House of the Dragon'.
  • The series is set 300 years before the events of the original.

US Television network HBO confirmed on Tuesday that it has ordered a prequel series to its Emmy-winning series ‘Game of Thrones’, however, it is reportedly dropping another prequel to accommodate the recent one.

Titled as ‘House of the Dragon’, the 10-episode series will take place 300 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’. The new series will be based on Martin’s book ‘Fire & Blood’ and will tell the story of House Targaryen, HBO said.

HBO executive Casey Bloys made the announcement at an event for HBO Max, streaming in May 2020. The news comes just hours after news broke that HBO canceled a previously announced GOT spinoff series.

HBO declined to comment on reports that it had dropped another GOT prequel starring Naomi Watts that was set thousands of years before the original. A pilot episode starring Watts had been filmed in Northern Ireland.

However, about the recent prequel it’s still not revealed when the series would become available and how the show would be cast.
