An accountability court on Wednesday extended physical remand of former managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) for another five days in the multibillion rupees Karkey Rental Power (RPPs) scam. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced former MD PEPCO Rasool Khan Mehsud before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Azam Khan on expiry of his physical remand. The NAB officials requested the court to extend the physical remand of the accused for recovery and further investigation.
The NAB prosecutor requested the court to extend the physical remand of the accused for another five days in order to complete interrogation from him. The judge asked if the accused is on physical remand. The NAB prosecutor replied in affirmative. The court after hearing arguments approved the NAB's request and extended physical remand of the accused till November 4.
The NAB has filed 12 references related to the RPPs in the Accountability Court. Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf is the principal accused in the scam. The references include Turkish ship-mounted power plant (Karkey), Piranghaib in Multan, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Guddu in Sindh, Naudero-II in Sindh, Naudero-I in Sindh, Reshma Power Generation in Raiwind, Young Gen Power Ltd, Bhikki, Sheikhupura, Gulf Rental Power Pvt Ltd and 150MW Sharaqpur.
