Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that new agricultural fair price shops would be set up in the backward areas of the province for provision of quality essential items on subsidized rates. The Minister stated this while presiding over meeting here on Saturday. The meeting reviewed different matters including implementation of price control mechanism, establishment of agricultural fair price shops and ration card scheme. Punjab Minister for Agriculture Nauman Akhtar Langrial, Secretary Industries and officers of the concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
He said survey and mechanism has been prepared for the establishment of these shops. Digital board regarding rates of essential items will be installed on these shops. He said model bazaars are also providing relief to the people. The Industries department has prepared a fresh online app. A plan has been made to provide essential items on market rate at the doorstep of consumers through online system, he said.
This project will be launched as pilot project in Lahore. He said that a ration card scheme is also being launched. The Minister directed that price control mechanism should be implemented fully and rate lists should also be ensured. Price control should keep a vigilant eye on prices and quality of essential items, he said.
