Pakistan Customs on Saturday foiled an attempt to smuggle amphetamine (heroin) to Saudi Arabia from Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), Karachi. According to details, the staff posted at JIAP intercepted a passenger Amanullah, who was travelling to Madina via PK-743 from Karachi. On his refusal to have any suspicious goods with him, the staff carried out physical examination of his luggage, which led the recovery of 700 grams of amphetamine (heroin), concealed artfully on the inner side wall of his suitcase. The market value of confiscated amphetamine (heroin) was estimated to around Rs7 million. Consequent upon recovery, he was taken into custody. Further investigation is in progress.
