Karachi Package: No money released by Centre for four projects

Whereas, the remaining four projects have received the full allocated funds in fiscal 2019-20, the data of releases for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) indicated.

Eight development projects figure in Karachi Package, which are being funded by federal government to improve the infrastructure and civic facilities in metropolis.

Federal government allocated Rs.500 million Construction of Flyover on Jinnah Avenue M-9, however it is yet to receive a single penny.

Construction of Road from Dumlotte Wells upto Link Road Adjacent to Education City District Malir is also awaiting the release of funds, for which federal government Rs.200 million in the current financial year's budget.

Construction of Road over Malir Bund from Dada Bhoy Town/Expressway up to Limits of PNS Mehran, District East is yet to receive the fund for which Rs.50 million have been set aside in the budget.

The federal government allocated Rs2.5 billion Green Line BRTS Operations under Karachi Package, however this project has not received the funds so far.

The projects under Karachi Package, which received the allocated amount in the budget, include Construction of Fly-over at Sakhi Hassan, Five Star, & KDA Roundabout along Sher Shah Suri Road, which received Rs.893 million, which were allocated in the financial year of 2019-20.

Likewise, Re-construction of Manghopir Road from Jam Chakro to Banaras also received the allocated amount of Rs.1.064 billion in the first four months.

As many as Rs.1.118 billion were allocated in Re-construction of Nishtar Road & Manghopir Road, which were released fully in the first four months.

Rehabilitation/Upgradation of Existing Fire Fighting System of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) received Rs.855 million, which were allocated in PSDP of current financial year.

Apart from development projects under Karachi Package, Green Bus Rapid Transit System also received Rs.2 billion, which were allocated in the budget.
