"Spanish businessmen are regularly visiting Pakistan despite of travel advisory while another delegation from Spain will visit Pakistan next week. A delegation will also visit Faisalabad in addition to having meetings in Lahore and Karachi," said Manuel Duran, Ambassador of Spain.
While addressing a function at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) here on Monday, he said that undisputedly Faisalabad is industrial, commercial and business hub of Pakistan.
"Being a textile capital many local units are also using Spanish textile machinery", he said.
Regarding trade, he said that it is a bilateral process and we hope that it will grow satisfactorily in the coming years.
He appreciated a proposal to give space to Pakistani youth specialized in IT so that they could contribute their role in the economy of Spain.
About dairy sector, he said that Spain has expertise in food processing. However, interested businessmen must point out their specific field so that their proposals and suggestions are processed on scientific lines.
Regarding fashion industry, he suggested that Pakistani exporters should contact their embassy in Madrid to fine tune this idea. Responding to a question of FCCI Secretary General Abid Masood, Commercial Attache Miguel Pena said that he is ready for exchange latest economic data of Spain with this chamber.
Earlier, in his address of welcome, President Rana Sikandar Azam introduced Faisalabad and FCCI. He told that though textile is iconic identification of Faisalabad, yet other sectors including chemicals, rice, sugar, ghee, engineering, poultry and agriculture are also contributing their humble role in its overall uplift.
He told that Faisalabad has unique privilege to house Asia's biggest socks manufacturing unit, biggest rice and state-of-the-art chemical unit. He told that Faisalabad alone is contributing 50 percent share towards total textile exports of Pakistan.
