Mehran Commercial Enterprises (MCE), operating in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) - Korangi Creek Industrial Park (KCIP), has dispatched its first export order to Ireland.
Out of total 20 companies operating in KCIP, only two export-oriented companies are manufacturing in this zone - MCE a tier one auto parts interior manufacturer and Mediplas Innovations (Private) Limited, manufacturer of plastic packaging and medical device components. MCE has sent its first order to Ireland this month, which is for interior tractor trims used in foreign tractors.
Mashood Khan, director exports in MCE said local industry was passing through difficult time due to shrink volumes with increased cost of doing business, rupee devaluation, high inflation and new tax measures regimes.
He said if the current economical instability remained persisted, majority of small and medium enterprises would be dragged towards closure; adding that the MCE's contribution in country's exports was nominal but it would be proven as new dawn for auto parts exports.
Mashood said as export enhancement was on priority by the incumbent government, policy makers should announce export friendly policy for the revival of economic condition; urging the authority concerned to take measures for Joint Ventures and Technology Collaborations to facilitate SMEs for exports.
