The JUI (F)-led sit-in at Islamabad's Peshawar Morr is, among other things, a protest against the results of the 2018 general election that catapulted Imran Khan's PTI into power. The opposition parties have refused to acknowledge a new arrival in the political arena of the country; they are not willing to accept their defeat as a fait accompli. So what's in store? This question has no easy answer though. Maulana Fazlur Rahman, the JUI-F chief, appears to be optimistic about his game-plan. In other words, he has already achieved what he actually wanted: mobilization of thousands of people, mostly Pashtun, against a party that has been ruling the KPK since 2013. The situation has thrown up a golden opportunity for him to literally lead the entire opposition, including PML-N and PPP. He has achieved more than what he deserved.
