Court ordered to release both Kamran Michael and Javed Makhdoom, who were arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The NAB charged Michael with misuse of his authority by issuing the orders to allot KPT lands for a housing society and allegedly taking bribe in return for this favour.
Meanwhile, a division bench of SHC headed by Justice K K Agha ordered acquittal of Tanveer Ahmed Tahir, former Additional Inspector General (AIG) in a case pertaining to huge losses to national exchequer through fake bills of petrol and CNG.
The court ordered the release of Tanveer Tahir after he filed an appeal against the decision of accountability court, which awarded him 25 years imprisonment.
The NAB court acquitted Fida Shah, another former AIG in the same case. SHC bench also turned down the appeal of the NAB against the acquittal of Fida Shah in this case.
Court ruled that the allegations against the two former police officials bogus and rejected the appeal of the NAB against acquittal of Fida Shah and accepted the plea of Tanveer Tahir against conviction.
