Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's ticket for London has been canceled as his name has still not been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).
This is the second time that the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader's departure has been delayed. On Saturday the government had delayed the removal of Nawaz's name from the ECL, forcing a change in his plan to leave for London for treatment on Sunday.
Both the National Accountability Bureau and the Ministry of Interior could not arrive at a decision regarding the removal Nawaz's name from the ECL.
The PML-N leader was scheduled to leave for London on Monday for treatment via Qatar Airways’s commercial flight QR-629 from Lahore, local media reported. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz's personal physician Dr Adnan were also scheduled to depart with him.
The Sharif family has already made all the arrangements at a London hospital for an advanced treatment of Nawaz's multiple medical complications. Last week, the Islamabad High Court granted bail to Sharif for eight weeks and suspended his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia corruption reference on medical grounds.
