FOAP resolves to abide by NHSO 2000

The meeting of the representatives of the Fleet Operators Association of Pakistan (FOAP), United Goods Transport Alliance Pakistan, Karachi Goods Carrier Association and All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association on November 6, 2019 have jointly resolved to completely abide by the National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000 (NHSO 2000) in complete letter and spirit in General and Axle Load Regime (no overloading) in particular, as directed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judgement, all over the country including M9.

All the associations will vigorously counter the proposal of the Government to defer the implementation of the National Highways Safety Ordinance 2000, NHSO-2000 law on M9 Motorway specifically, as the law was promulgated to ensure road safety by regulating the loads allowed on various types of vehicles and has been in implementation since March 2019.

That the goods transporters across the country will not allow any overloading on their vehicles and will continue our struggle on the legal, ethical and political front against the government's illegal and unconstitutional decision. A representative Committee from all associations will coordinate and decide on future actions and take all immediate steps to stop overloading.-PR
