KARACHI: A prisoner who escaped from Bannu jail has produced himself at Aaj News office in Islamabad, Aaj News reported on Monday

The prisoner who calls himself Muhammad Hanif was taken into custody by police during his an interview with Aaj News' team.

Talking to the media, the escaped prisoner revealed that the Taliban forcibly sprung him out of jail and he fled the prison for fear of his life.

Hanif has requested to be moved to any other prison which is outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.

SSP Islamabad told Aaj News that police will provide security to Hanif and that he will be presented in court as well.

He further said, that he will urge the court to reconsider charges against Muhammad Hanif or revisit his term in jail.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to capture the escapees in the recent jail-break orchestrated by the Taliban in the Bannu district of KPK.
