At least 22 people, including women and children, have reportedly been killed due to lightning in different parts of Tharparkar and Sanghar districts in Sindh.
Dozens of animals have also lost their lives during the last 24 hours as heavy to moderate rainfall still continues across the desert, creating panic among the people of Tharparkar and adjacent areas.
According to hospital sources, several injured people have been shifted to different health facilities, including the district Civil Hospital Mithi.
In Udani village near Chhachhro town, a woman Sona Dohat, 35, was killed. In another incident, three members of a family identified as Abdul Razzaq, Muqima and Sakina residents of Morasiyo village, lost their lives in lightning related incidents.
Over two dozens people with lightning strike injuries were shifted to different hospitals of Mithi, Islamkot and Chhachhro.
Mumtaz Nohrio, a resident of Mithi city, said that electricity was suspended to cities with many people believed that it was too dangerous to use mobile phones during the heavy rains.
"That's why we don't know exactly what is happening in the remote areas," he said, adding "There was no rescue system available in the area to move the injured to hospital immediately."
