Taking to Twitter, actor Mehwish Hayat, who is also ‘Goodwill Ambassador for the rights of the girl child’, slammed the culprit and said, “Let's use this arrest - horrific as it is - to shut down all the networks and mafias exploiting our children in this way. Perverts like this have no place in any civilised society”.

Singer/activist Shehzad Roy also shared a video showing a woman beating a child. “I felt honoured when I was invited to the NA in 2013 & the honourable Speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza helped us pass the law against corporal punishment in schools but then learned that parents are allowed to hit children & that it’s a religious issue, so I was asked to stay away,” he wrote on Twitter.
