Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Tuesday said that all the institutions and the government are on the same page for the development and prosperity of the country. "Instead of personal interests, the opposition should give preference to national interest; Nawaz Sharif has gone abroad after giving assurance to the court of law and hopefully he shall come back after his recovery," the Governor said while speaking at the 26th Convocation of University of Engineering and Technology (UET); International Education Expo-2019 at Governor House and later talking to media persons on Tuesday.
UET Vice Chancellor Dr Masoor Sarwar attended the convocation, while Begum Governor Perveen Sarwar, Punjab Overseas Commission's Vice Chairman Waseem Ramay, MPA Ejaz Ahmed, Punjab government spokesman Irfan Ahmed and others participated in the Education Expo.
The Governor said that Prime Minister and Chief Minister have the powers to make changes in the cabinet. He said the Muslim Ummah will have to get united today for settlement of Kashmir dispute and Palestine issue. "All the universities of Punjab have been purged of politics and all the vice chancellors are also being appointed on merit," he said.
The Governor said: "We have decided to pay greater attention towards research and other disciplines/courses in the universities." Responding to a question, the Governor said that Nawaz Sharif has gone abroad after getting permission from the court of law and the government did not make any obstruction in this regard.
While addressing the International Education Expo-2019 at Governor House, he said there was no doubt that entire Pakistani nation including the students is not only united for their brethren of occupied Kashmir but also ready to render any sort of sacrifice for them.
