Underlining the importance of electricity, he said that it is prerequisite to generate much needed economic activity and now it is very encouraging that we have surplus electricity in the country which must be utilized to further strengthen the national economy. He endorsed the idea of President FCCI that Sub-Divisional Offices (SDO) are the true face of the Fesco and hence, its response to public complaints must be expedited. The CEO said that work on this project has already been started and people will see a phenomenal and positive improvement in the response of SDO's. He further said that all SDO's have been directed to attend public complaints at any time. However, the SDOs failing to attend public complaints immediately would be taken to task. He was appreciative of the positive trend of local consumers and said that they are efficient in making payment of their bills. However there are 2 percent consumers who are habitual in making late payments and in order to bring them on right path, we have to cut down their connections in according to Nepra (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) rules.
About Kohinoor Plaza, he said that it is a chronic issue; however, it would be resolved in accordance to the court verdict. About delay in installments of new electricity meters, he said that he is trying to make this system online. "Everyone will get electricity meters within 32 to 35 days", he assured. Regarding renewable energy Shafiq-ul-Hassan said that the share of it is only 4 to 5 percent in our total production. He said that government is working on a proposal to increase its share up to 15 to 20 percent by the year 2025. About waste to energy project, he said that we could not encourage this project because of increasing pollution.
