Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought the replies from provincial secretaries of agriculture and law by December 10, 2019 over hike in the prices of vegetables and mismanagement at fruit mandi Karachi.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar ordered the officials of Sindh government on a petition, filed by Naeem Jamali Advocate.
Petitioner submitted the market committee was constituted upon the orders of Sindh chief minister under amendment law in 2010.
Petitioner said that committee has not been functioning smoothly as the mismanagement in it has been triggering increase in the prices of vegetables.
Justice Mazhar remarked that provincial government has not been implementing the laws, which it passed.
"Whatever law passed by the province after 18th constitutional amendment has not been complied with", he observed.
Court ordered Deputy Advocate General to inform the court after inquiring from the government what is happening in this regard.
Meanwhile, secretary Sindh Assembly assured a bench of SHC to ensure the payment of arrears of enhanced salaries of members of Assembly during 2013 to 2018 by next month.
Sitting and former members of Sindh Assembly moved the court against non-implementation of its order for payment of their dues.
Secretary Assembly told the court that letter has been written to accountant general office and assured that arrears would be deposited in the accounts of these members.
Court disposed off the petition of members of the Assembly upon the assurance of secretary Assembly.
