At least eight Afghan security forces, including seven policemen and one army soldier, were killed after Taliban fighters attacked security outposts in a central province, officials said on Sunday.
Between three to four other people were wounded in the attacks that took place in Daikundi province's Kijran district around 1 am (2030 GMT Saturday), the officials said. Around 200 Taliban fighters launched a coordinated attack on the outposts overnight, deputy provincial governor Dr Mohammad Ali Uruzgani and provincial council members Haji Ghairat Jawahiri and Sohrab Ali Aetimadi told dpa. Jawahiri said one of the outposts had fallen to the Taliban, adding that the threat to the entire district was high and it may fall to the Taliban if reinforcements are not dispatched.
