Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will launch on Monday Pakistan Clean Green Index which will be the country's first ever barometer to measure green character and cleanliness of cities.
PM's advisor on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam announced that the index aims to improve overall green and clean outlooks of Pakistani cities by kicking off competition among them on five indicators. These indicators, he added, includes sustainable public access to clean drinking water, safe sanitation, effective solid waste management, hygiene and tree plantation.
The advisor further said judging the performance of the cities, each of the indicators would be assigned equal weightage of 20 marks during assessment of the cities. Initially, 19 districts of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will participate in this initiative.
The PM will also be launching the Clean Green Champion program.This program is a volunteer initiative which is for all Pakistan and anyone can register with CNIC on the app or website. Based on actives people will get points and there are incentives which different point tiers, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said.
